2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games
Australia has been represented at the Commonwealth Games since the beginning, and in 2018 the Gold Coast will host the event.
We will welcome visitors, athletes and officials from all over the world to our city for an event ‘where anything is possible’.
15,000 dedicated volunteers will be needed from the local community to bring the event to life.
The world’s best athletes will showcase their talents in the pursuit of international sporting excellence.
The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games will be the fifth held in Australia and will run from 4 to 15 of April.
Jessica Mauboy is set to perform live at the Games launch on 4 April 2018, along with other acts.
The launch will be held at Broadwater Parklands in Southport just a 13-minute drive from affordable accommodation at South Pacific Plaza.
However it is the very first time the games will be held in a regional Australian city.
More than 6,500 athletes and officials from more than 70 nations will visit Australia to compete in the Commonwealth Games.
The Gold Coast provides top facilities and a passion for sports creating maximum opportunity for great competition.
Sports will include: Athletics, Aquatics, Boxing, Badminton, Lawn Bowls, Hockey, Netball, Rugby Sevens, Squash, Weightlifting and another 7 sports to be decided by the Commonwealth Games Federation.
The event will also integrate a Para-Sports program including Athletics, Swimming, Powerlifting and Lawn Bowls.
South Pacific Plaza will position you close to the sporting action and provide Gold Coast accommodation in the heart of Broadbeach. You will be close to all public transport routes and taxi services.
